Peer Support Specialist – Foundations of Community Support

Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8–5

Pay: $20–$25/hr (DOE/DOQ)

Hours: Full‑time, 40 hrs/week

About the Role

The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery‑oriented support to individuals experiencing housing instability, homelessness, or barriers to employment. This role uses lived experience to offer encouragement, mentorship, and practical skills coaching in community settings.

Key Responsibilities

Support participants with goals related to employment, education, housing, and independent living.
Provide peer coaching for job readiness, workplace success, budgeting, communication, and daily living skills.
Assist with job searches, navigating community resources, and building stable relationships with landlords, employers, and partners.
Deliver services in homes, workplaces, and community locations.
Complete accurate, timely documentation meeting Medicaid, WAC/RCW, and agency standards.
Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA & 42 CFR Part 2).
Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings.

Requirements

Education: Associate degree
Licensure: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (agency can assist)
Certification: Certified Peer Support Specialist within 6 months (agency can assist)
Experience:
Personal experience with mental health services OR
In recovery from substance use disorder for 2+ years
Valid driver’s license & insurable driving record; comfortable transporting clients
Pass pre‑employment drug screen & background check
Provide immunization records (MMR, Hep B, Tdap, flu)

Preferred: Prior experience as a Peer Support Specialist

Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Ability to support skill‑building in work, education, and daily living
Sound judgment, crisis management, and boundary‑setting
Works well independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working in office, home, and community settings
