During my time as a police officer I interacted with individuals in crisis. When doing so, I eventually came to the conclusion that law enforcement officials were only able to spend a limited amount of time with these individuals before they were taken to the hospital. This has always been an area where I wished I could have done more. I have received crisis intervention training, instruction on different mental health problems, and it is an ambition of mine to complete the psychology degree that I began.

My name is Micaela Wiley and I worked in law enforcement from 2022 to 2024 after graduating from university. Recently, I have determined to shift my career direction from law enforcement to focus specifically on helping individuals with mental health struggles. I personally have a passion for this specific area and hope my progression in the field can do some good for others. Aside from education and training, I believe that compassion, understanding, and a genuine desire to help others is what people in difficult situations respond to most.
