Summary:
As a Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) at Aristo Intensive Behavioral Health Treatment
Services, you will play a pivotal role in supporting residents on their journey to recovery
from mental illness or substance use disorder. Drawing upon your own lived
experience, you will foster empathy, understanding, and empowerment while
advocating for the needs of individuals undergoing treatment. Join us in creating a

Responsibilities:
● Build rapport with patients and establish a trusting relationship based on
shared experiences.
● Provide emotional support, encouragement, and practical guidance to
individuals in recovery.
● Advocate for the rights and preferences of residents within the treatment
facility and the broader community.
● Facilitate peer-led support groups and educational workshops on topics
related to recovery and wellness.
● Share personal experiences and coping strategies to inspire hope and
promote self-care practices.
● Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate peer support principles into
treatment plans.
● Utilize de-escalation techniques and active listening skills to assist
residents in managing crises.
● Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to address emergent
needs and ensure safety.
● Maintain accurate records of peer support interactions and interventions.
● Document progress, challenges, and outcomes in accordance with
organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
● Participate in ongoing training and continuing education opportunities to
enhance peer support skills.
● Stay informed about developments in peer support best practices and
evidence-based interventions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Certification as a Peer Counselor issued by the Health Care Authority in
accordance with WAC 182-538D-0200.
● Completion of online and in-person training programs and successful passage of the CPC exam.
● Lived experience of mental illness or substance use disorder and a commitment to personal recovery.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
● Empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals seeking support.
● Strong advocacy skills and a dedication to promoting the rights and dignity of individuals with behavioral health conditions.
● Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive organizational culture.
● Proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
