Lead Parent Support Specialist (LPSS)
Region: North Sound / North Central
Reports to: Deputy Director
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a Lead Parent Support Specialist (LPSS) to join our team at A Common Voice. This role is all about walking alongside parents and caregivers who are navigating behavioral health systems for their children and youth. You’ll use your lived experience, compassion, and advocacy skills to offer support, connect families to resources, and help them feel empowered in their journey.
If you’re someone who’s passionate about lifting up family voices, building community, and helping others feel less alone — this may be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
- Support families directly: Respond to parents/caregivers reaching out for help and provide guidance to navigate behavioral health systems.
- Connect and empower: Help families build confidence, prepare for meetings, and find strategies to reduce stress.
- Facilitate groups: Lead virtual support groups and co-host local and statewide events that bring parents and caregivers together.
- Advocate with families: Attend meetings (IEPs, WISe, etc.) when parents request support, making sure their voices are heard.
- Plan and collaborate: Work with your regional team to organize community events, trainings, and workshops.
- Document and share: Track family contacts, group participation, and trends so our team can learn and grow together.
What You’ll Bring
- Lived experience as a parent or caregiver navigating behavioral health systems for your child/youth.
- A passion for peer support and a belief in family voice and choice.
- Strong communication skills — listening, encouraging, and advocating.
- Comfort with basic technology (Zoom, email, forms) to connect with families and document activities.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and participate in ongoing training.
What You Can Expect
- A supportive team that values your voice and your experience.
- Opportunities for training and professional development.
- Weekly staff and supervision meetings to stay connected and supported.
- A chance to make a meaningful difference for families across Washington State.
Compensation: $26 per hour, DOE (Depending on Experience).
Additional consideration will be given for relevant expertise, specialized trainings, or certifications in the field.
