Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Mentor to join a clinic-based violence intervention program (HVIP). This role supports individuals impacted by violence-related injuries by providing trauma-informed care, mentorship, advocacy, and connection to essential community resources.

Peer Mentors use lived experience, cultural awareness, and strong relationship-building skills to engage clients at a critical point of intervention and support their transition toward safety, stability, and long-term healing.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to referrals from clinical staff for individuals impacted by violence
Provide emotional support, stabilization, and crisis intervention
Build trust and supportive relationships with clients and families
Develop individualized support plans focused on safety, healing, and personal goals
Provide ongoing mentorship, encouragement, and accountability
Connect clients to resources such as mental health services, housing, employment, and substance use treatment
Collaborate with clinic staff and community partners
Support conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed
Maintain follow-up with clients after initial engagement
Document case notes and track client progress accurately

Qualifications

Lived experience in violence prevention, recovery, or community advocacy (preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to support individuals experiencing trauma or crisis
Knowledge of local community resources
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Reliable, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach to care

Work Environment

This position is based in a clinic setting with outreach in the community as needed. Work may include evenings, weekends, and occasional on-call responsibilities depending on program needs.

Pay: $34.99 - $35.00 per hour
