Peer Support Specialists (Youth Partners) are individuals with personal history as a youth/child who has been a recipient of behavioral health, child welfare, complex medical coordination, or juvenile justice services who use that personal experience in building support with families. Successful applicants must have first-person experience as a youth who received system services within the last 10 years and be prepared to disclose their personal experiences with youth, parents, and others.
Peer Support Specialists (Youth Peers)collaborate, provide support, and help orient services for youth receiving Family Behavioral Health Services. Working as a member of a team, the Peer Support Specialist (Youth Peer) encourages a youth to voice their own perspective, empowers the young person to self-advocate so that other team members are able to understand their experience, and uses that perspective in treatment planning. This position supports and respects youth, parents, and families in developing confidence in their abilities to build a community support team on a recovery journey and maintain hope for their success after formal behavioral health services have been completed.
Emphasis is on achieving incredible outcomes with children, youth, and families by actively partnering with them, along with their natural and community services and supports, to achieve long-term safety and stability in our neighborhoods and communities.
This position will be based out of the FBH Bremerton office and serves youth and their caregivers/parents in Kitsap County. This position requires scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of youth and families served. The services we offer will be provided in community-based settings and in family homes.
