Purpose/Vision/Mission
Peer Washington’s purpose is to provide peer emotional support and development services to:
- Washington state residents impacted by temporary or chronic addiction, mental health and/or HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases.
- Target disparately impacted communities through site expansion operated as a dba of Peer Washington named for location and guided by a charter identifying the target community served.
- Maintain safe space for members identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming or other sexual minorities at all our locations regardless of the target community.
- Services shall be open to any person impacted by addiction, mental health, or HIV/AIDS; however, outreach for each site will be directed toward the community identified in the site charter.

General Summary – Recovery Navigator Program
The Recovery Navigator Program offers peer support services to adults who encounter law enforcement due to drug possession or have regular encounters with the criminal justice system due to unaddressed behavioral health issues. The Program Assistant's responsibility is to assist with call coordination and provide support to the staff who deliver direct services, all while being supervised by the Program Director.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work directly with Program Director to enhance RNP guidelines, best practices, participant tracking, and expectations for this role
- Responsible for processing all inbound calls, database and Vonage entries, and dispatch outreach navigators.
- Understand and ensure the Recovery Navigator Uniform Program Standards are met.
- Ability to analyze and interpret benefit program criteria.
- Ability to interact and decipher information via telephone or correspondence inquiries.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
- Provide information on a timely basis and in a usable form to others who need to act on it
- Ensure that department procedure is followed and ensure clear, detailed records are kept.
- Cultivate relationships with community partners.
- Maintain clear communication with law enforcement agencies, court officers and CB partner agencies.
- Work with and become knowledgeable about representatives across systems that impact participants, including the healthcare system, the behavioral health system, the criminal justice system, etc.
- Attend all ongoing training offered to enhance the effectiveness of the role.
- Maintaining accurate logs and performing regular maintenance on company vehicles.

Required Qualifications
- Must identify as someone in recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges and in remission for at least one year.
- Available to work any day of the week and any schedule, including holidays.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and handle calls quickly and efficiently
- Must answer incoming telephone calls quickly and professionally.
- Database knowledge
- Maintains professionalism and the willingness to always help others.
- Must have excellent organizational, documenting, communication, and program management skills.
- Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said.
- Proficient level of ability with computer software: Microsoft Office Products, CRMs, etc.
- Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and law and court enforcement officers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lived experience with being unhoused, the criminal legal system, the mental health system,
- and/or other relevant systems that impact program participants.
- Two or more years of experience in work related to peer support for behavioral health or outreach programs.
- Established relationships with local community-based organizations and/or law enforcement agencies.
- Previous experience working as a Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) or willing to seek certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must be trained and certified as a peer recovery coach through Peer Washington within 6 months of hire.
- Bilingual in Spanish or other additional language skills
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Additional Compensation
- Starting wage $22.93 - $27.96/ hr. DOE
- Paid Vacation Time – 3 weeks per calendar year, accrued at 4.615hrs per biweekly pay period, 120-hour maximum annual carryover.
- Paid Sick Time – 80 Hours per calendar year, accrued at 3.077hrs per biweekly pay period, 480-hour maximum annual carryover.
- Three Personal Days if hired prior to October 8th, 2025. Three Personal Days per quarter thereafter. Personal days do not carry over from year to year, have no monetary value, and are forfeited upon employment separation.
